Perfect Your Running Form
We’ve all heard the phrase “Some running is better than no running”, but is some running with bad form really better than no running? Luckily, improving your form is easy!
In January I challenge each and every one of you to think about form as much as possible when working out. Whether you’re an entry level fitness walker or accomplished Olympic lifter, having good form can help prevent injuries, and make your workout both more valuable and easier!
The first form tip for January is a few simple things to remember when running.
Keep your head up. Your body will go where your eyes are pointed!
Your feet should strike the ground in whichever way is natural for you, but in general midfoot striking is easier on your body than heel striking. If you’re not sure how your feet strike the ground, film yourself running in slow motion for easy analysis.
Keep your hands relaxed. Imagine holding a thin potato chip in your hands. You don’t want to hold it so tight that it breaks, but you don’t want your hands so loose that it falls to the ground.
